The Main Entrance West Hangar Site includes three (3) new 12,000SF corporate aircraft hangars, each being 120' wide x 100' deep with 100'W x 24'H one-piece hydraulic hangar doors facing a brand new ramp/apron which connects to freshly paved taxiways. Each building includes a 14' W x 16'H motor operated overhead/garage door, a "storefront" glass double door, and multiple single-doors for ease of access. Located immediately on the west side of the Airport's main entrance, a new service road provides drive access to the front side of each hangar as well as dedicated parking and automatic vehicle gate access to the ramp. Site work began on August 26, 2024 and was substantially completed in June of 2025. The Airport is working to have public electric aircraft charging stations installed as part of this new hangar site with support from the Virginia Department of Aviation.
The South Terminal Apron Rehab project provides new asphalt, drainage, and pavement markings for the apron and taxiways extending south from the Airport's terminal apron. The South Terminal Apron Rehab project also provides brand new asphalt for the taxiways to and from the Main Entrance West Hangar Site as well as brand new asphalt for the Airport's terminal apron where transient aircraft park. The construction elements included erosion control, pavement milling, full depth reclamation, grade correction, paving operations, site stabilization, and pavement marking operations. This project began on August 5, 2024 and was substantially completed on December 18, 2024.
1. Airport Master Plan Update
The most recent comprehensive PVG Airport Master Plan was developed in 1983. An Airport Layout Plan (ALP) Update including a Narrative Report was developed in 2006. The Master Plan is being initiated to identify existing facilities, future facility needs, and non-standard conditions which do not meet the latest FAA airport design requirements. As a strategic planning process, the PVG Airport Master Plan Update will be structured to be responsive to local issues, while at the same time, inclusive of broad regional and national goals. Although an "update", the study program is intended to be inclusive and comprehensive in nature and will entail a coordinated effort to identify, quantify and document airport needs. This project is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed in mid 2028.
2. Turner Lane Rehab Preliminary Engineering
Turner Lane is located on the western boundary of the Airport and provides the only land-side vehicle access to 31 hangar buildings. This project includes performing a series of geotechnical borings and ground survey on the existing pavements to determine structural integrity and to provide a design pavement section/recommendation for repairs as well as stormwater drainage. This information will be used in future design, funding budgets, and schedules. This project is expected to be completed in 2026 and is expected to be followed by a full design project and subsequent asphalt rehabilitation project.

Aviation will give new nourishment to the religious sprit of mankind. It will add airspace to those other great heighteners of the cosmic mood: the wood, the sea, the desert.
